"People place their hand on the Bible and swear to uphold the Constitution; they don't put their hand on the Constitution and swear to uphold the Bible." Jamie Raskin, American University constitutional law professor
Dark Christianity is a place for the exploration and discussion of the right-wing theocratic elements of the Christian faith, and how these religious supremacists are actively eroding the foundations of the separation of church and state in the US. Its major focus is on Dominionist Theocracy (also known as Christian Reconstructionism) and its many variants. This is not a flame or bash board - it is meant to explore, inform, and educate people about this often stealthy and deceptive fringe of the Christian faith. All religions have their 'dark' side, their extremists and 'talibans'. The Dominionist focus is on the so-called "End Times" as well as the overt (and increasingly successful) attempt to create a mythical 'Christian America' by replacing civil law with Biblical law. This community examines these particular elements of the Christian faith, and seeks to understand the growing and very real threat that their rise to power poses to not only Christianity as a whole, but also to the US and the rest of the world.

Dark Christianity is a place for the exploration and discussion of the right-wing theocratic elements of the Christian faith, and how these religious supremacists are actively eroding the foundations of the separation of church and state in the US. Its major focus is on Dominionist Theocracy (also known as Christian Reconstructionism?) and its many variants. This is not a flame or bash board - it is meant to explore, inform, and educate people about this often stealthy and deceptive fringe of the Christian faith. All religions have their 'dark' side, their extremists and 'talibans'. Dark Christianity was created in 2003 by Sunfell, who started it on a whim as a place to talk about the religious right. In the three years since the community was created, its registered subscriber population has grown from a small handful to over 600 people. And uniquely for a site like this, the readers and contributers to Dark Christianity range from staunch atheist to devout Christians, Pagans of various flavors and agnostics. This interesting mix makes for lively conversation and discussion. The site is read by many more people than subscribe, and gets quoted all over Live Journal.

Notes to editors and authors
- It is common practice to not remove entries that cannot be found. If a web site is failing, note that in the entry, but leave that entry. It may return, or there may be a temporary problem with the site.
- ISBN Tag - Use of the ISBN tag requires the exact phrase followed by a colon and the number with no intervening white space.
- It is acceptable to omit the ISBN if it cannot be found. Others may be able to find it later.
- It is standard on this site to provide the ISBN of the first item in a series where more than one volume, etc exist.
- Library of Congress Classification - can be searched by author, title, etc, and by ISBN.
- It is desirable to provide Dewey and LCCN (Library of Congress) call numbers for books as well. As with the ISBN, the call numbers may be omitted if they cannot be found.
- ISBN lookup - Look up Dewey and LCCN numbers (and much more) for any ISBN.
- Entry example
- The Handmaid's Tale - Margaret Atwood ISBN:038549081X, Dewey Class: 813.54 -- Fiction, LCC Number: PR9199.3
- Television and movies should be linked to IMDb.com whenever possible.

Dark Christianity is a place for the exploration and discussion of the right-wing theocratic elements of the Christian faith, and how these religious supremacists are actively eroding the foundations of the separation of church and state in the US. Its major focus is on Dominionist Theocracy (also known as Christian Reconstructionalism) and its many variants. This is not a flame or bash board- it is meant to explore, inform, and educate people about this often stealthy and deceptive fringe of the Christian faith.
